In 2022, we celebrate 200 years of the present building of St James' Church Poole. Delayed by a year because of the pandemic we are delighted now to mark the way that St James' has been a place of worship and community for two centuries. We are now looking to the future and to the continued place that St James' has in our community in terms of worship, culture, community and heritage. However, we are aware that after 200 years there are some major issues of restoration and repair that need to be made in order to continue. In particular, major roof repairs are needed to keep the church watertight for years to come. Alongside this, we are looking at replacing our ageing heating system to lessen our environmental impact and enable us to reach the Church of England's target to be carbon neutral by 2030.
We will be looking at major grant funding for this project. However, any contributions from individuals or our local community would be gratefully received to move this project forward.
